2025 Conference Locations

APHE's 2025 Conference will be taking place in the heart of downtown Kansas City, MO, at the Cascade Hotel, Kansas City April 30th - May 2nd, 2025.

Based on member feedback, our popular conference mixer will take place in the Cascade Hotel the evening of Tuesday, April 29th - prior to the conference starting on April 30th.

Our annual APHE Dinner and Nathania Gartman Heroes Award presentation will take place from 6-9pm on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025, location to be announced soon! 

New this year, we will be offering an optional half day of learning lab sessions in lieu of the pre-conference workshops. These sessions will be hosted on Friday, May 2nd at Wayside Waifs.  Additional registration required; light breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided!

Also new this year, we will be facilitating (optional) conference buddies for new attendees or those nervous about coming to the conference alone. Learn more below!

2025 Conference Hotel Information

APHE encourages 2025 conference attendees to reserve rooms at the Cascade Hotel, Kansas City, our official conference hotel and venue!

Reserve a room using our discounted group rate of $199 plus tax for a Double Queen or Single King room April 29th - May 3rd.

The last day to reserve a room using our group rate is Friday, April 4th, 2025.
Please note that we do expect our room block to fill. There are several other hotels to consider nearby!

Transportation to and from hotel:

The Cascade Hotel, Kansas City is 23 miles from Kansas City International Airport. Ground transportation information from the airport can be found here. The Cascade does not provide shuttle service.

Inspired by our City of Fountains, Cascade Hotel Kansas City represents energy, refreshment, and curiosity. The property includes 6 different on-property restaurants, meeting space, spa, free WiFi, fitness center, and more. Walking distance to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art and nearby Union Station. 

Who typically attends the APHE National Humane Education Conference? 

Attendees from all over the world! Our members and registrants hail from both sides of the hemisphere.

Attendees include humane educators from a variety of backgrounds who promote humane attitudes toward people, animals, and the environment.  This includes, but is not limited to, anyone who teaches animal welfare, animal rights, animal behavior, environmental education and literacy, social justice, character education, cultural studies, and any combination of the above.

The conference allows staff and volunteers of animal shelters, animal care and control agencies, zoos, museums, park districts, schools, colleges, universities, and other local, regional, and national entities to learn and share together.

Is this your first time attending APHE's conference? Are you coming alone? New in 2025, we will be launching an optional conference buddy option to pair you with someone who you can attend workshops with, have meals with, etc.! If this is something you are interested in, we will be sending an email closer to the conference with sign ups. Our goal is to build relationships and foster collaboration and lasting memories to strengthen the humane education community!

The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement

APHE is an approved provider of content which enhances professional competence and aligns with the CAWA Exam specifications.

National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA)

This conference has been approved for Continuing Educational Units by NACA. National certificate holders can submit for credit consistent with the NACA CEU policy.
