Maddie's Fund

Maddie's Fund® is a family foundation established in 1994 by Dave and Cheryl Duffield and is the fulfillment of a promise to an inspirational dog, Maddie. She provided them much joy for over ten years and continues to inspire them today.

The Foundation has awarded over $275.7 million in grants toward increased community lifesaving, pioneering shelter medicine education and establishing foster care as a standard across the U.S.

Maddie’s Fund proudly offers the industry a national voice, important funding opportunities for bold ideas, learning resources and access to collaborate and share innovative solutions. The Foundation invests its resources in a commitment to keeping pets and people together, creating a safety net of care for animals in need and operating within a culture of inclusiveness and humility. #ThanksToMaddie.

Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends Animal Society and Southern Utah University (SUU) have partnered to create higher learning opportunities in contemporary animal services. Through this partnership, students have the opportunity to learn about proven data and science-based practices, policies and procedures through certificated programs, symposiums, and classes.

The Latham Foundation

Founded in 1918, today Latham promotes humane education and animal welfare activities such as the human-animal bond, the link between animal abuse and other forms of violence, and advances in animal-assisted activities through its publications, videos, and new grant-making program.

Animal Welfare Institute

The Animal Welfare Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing animal suffering caused by people. We seek better treatment of animals everywhere—in the laboratory, on the farm, in commerce, at home, and in the wild.

Institute for Humane Education

The Institute for Humane Education helps educators and changemakers teach about the interconnected issues of animal protection, human rights, and environmental sustainability with the goal of solving problems, transforming unjust, inequitable, and inhumane systems, and creating a world where all can thrive. IHE offers an M.Ed, MA, Graduate Certificate and Ed.D. specialization in humane education through its partnership with Antioch University, as well as a solutionary micro-credential program for k-12 educators, a free resource center, and a community building platform on Circle.

Wayside Waifs

Established in 1944, Wayside Waifs is committed to finding homes for all adoptable pets. Wayside is the largest no kill pet adoption campus in Kansas City, placing approximately 5,400 animals each year. Wayside does not euthanize adoptable animals, and there are no time limits for animals in our care. Only animals suffering from significant medical issues or those that pose a danger are humanely euthanized. Wayside Waifs is proud to be a part of Kansas City’s no kill community.

RedRover

RedRover brings animals out of crisis through emergency sheltering, disaster relief, and financial assistance. Through our Kind News magazine, we are helping to prevent animal cruelty and neglect by educating youth and building a more compassionate future. Learn more at KindNews.org.

The Gryphon Press

Gryphon Press picture books celebrate the human-animal bond. Our mission is to publish beautifully illustrated children’s picture books about the vital issues that animals–domestic, wild, and farmed– face, and to present those issues in such a way that children gain insights into and develop empathy for every animal life.
