We are thrilled to announce the upcoming conference, Kindness & Community in Kansas City, and are seeking speakers for this empowering event. This conference aims to delve deep into the realm of empathy and compassion, exploring their profound impact on individuals, communities, and society as a whole.

Speaker Guidelines:

We are seeking dynamic speakers who possess expertise in the fields of animal welfare, education, mental health, technology, psychology, social sciences, leadership, community engagement, and other related disciplines. If you have a compelling story, groundbreaking research, or practical tools to share on the power of empathy and compassion, we encourage you to submit your proposal. We are specifically seeking presentations on a variety of the following themes/topics:

Foundations of Humane Education

• Humane Education 101: Foundational Principles and Best Practices
  
• Selling Humane Education to your leadership and donors
• Incorporating animal ambassadors into your programming
• Connecting your programs to lifesaving initiatives

Social Justice

• Diversity and cultural sensitivity: promoting cross-cultural understanding
• Addressing systemic inequalities through Humane Education lessons
• Diverse perspectives and representation in community engagement

Building Community

• Collaborative approaches and partnerships in Humane Education
• How to make lasting impact outside of shelter programming
• Exploring the evolving role of community initiatives
• Making the most of your volunteer pool: service and corporate groups, interns, community projects, adult and teen engagement, etc.

Compassion and Kindness

• Compassion fatigue and burnout: Tips for relief and recovery
• Self care and well-being
• Self-Compassion: Fostering compassion within ourselves
• The importance of language in animal welfare

Animal and Environmental Welfare

• Human-wildlife coexistence: Developing strategies to coexist peacefully with wildlife
• Farm animal welfare: Promoting best practices to improve farm animal welfare
• Ecological stewardship: Promoting sustainable practices to protect our planet
• Climate change: Highlighting the impacts of human activity on ecosystems and wildlife
