The workshop will be facilitated by Zoe Weil, President of IHE. This professional development offering will take place on Saturday, November 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Detroit Zoo’s Ford Education Center. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Sponsored by the DZS’s Berman Academy for Humane Education, this professional development workshop is designed to train educators to effectively teach critical thinking about animal protection,  environmental ethics and social justice to enhance students’ understanding of how their choices impact themselves, other people, other species and the Earth. Teachers will learn how to bring global ethical issues into the classroom through innovative activities and approaches that enable their students to become conscientious changemakers and effective problem solvers for a more humane, peaceable, and healthy world.

This workshop is recommended for all classroom teachers and community educators, but is also open to students and other persons interested in humane education.
