    Association of Professional Humane Educators (APHE)
    Board of Director Applicant and Nominee Requirements

    The term of office for Board of Directors members elected during this regular election shall end at the 2017 annual membership meeting held at the APHE National Humane Education Conference.

    At the time of application, applicants and nominees must:
    - Be an APHE member in good standing for 1 full year
    - Have attended at least one APHE National Humane Education Conference
    - Have at least one year’s experience, either in a paid or volunteer position, in humane education or a related field

    If elected, applicants and nominees must be prepared to travel twice a year to different locations for meetings. This requires that board applicants and nominees have the support of their executive director and/or their board of directors, since this commitment will require time away from work, travel costs and availability to participate in conference calls. Limited funds may be available to assist with some travel costs.

    Those elected to the Board are required to attend the in-person board meetings on February 25-26, 2014 before the National Humane Education Conference on February 27-28 in Dallas, Texas. Also required is participation in one other in-person board meeting and two board phone conferences during each calendar year, as well as committee work throughout the year, primarily via e-mail.

    Due to our use of an online voting procedure, nominees are required to provide all necessary information which will be posted on the APHE website, allowing members to get to know and ask questions of each candidate.

    The APHE Board requests that each applicant submit a resume, a current photo, and cover letter. Within your submission, please include answers to the following questions:

    1. Why do you wish to serve on this board?
    2. What abilities do you have that you feel would be an asset to the organization?
    3. How will your experiences in the field help you to be a quality board member?
    4. Tell us about your work history in this field.

    Complete applicant submissions must be received by the APHE Nominating Committee at nominations@aphe.org by October 31, 2013.
